Pet Week

We’re gearing up to celebrate our favorite four-legged friends for an entire week! National Pet Week is May 7th through the 13th this year. Pet Week is a time we, as pet owners, take time to ensure our pets live their happiest & healthiest lives. It’s also about spending a week showing your dog/cat how much you love them. Whether that’s longer walks, new toys, or a trip to the groomer. This week is all about them, and we’re here to help you make the most of it.

Health Matters

Pet Week began in 1981 with the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) to celebrate the pets that enrich our lives, and the responsibility that comes along with owning pets. Part of that responsibly includes ensuring they receive enough exercise, a healthy diet, and frequent vet visits. Did you know that new patients at Phoenix Vet Center receive 15% off their first exam?

It’s A Celebration!

Once the serious stuff is taken care of, you can truly spoil your pets. While this day promotes responsible pet ownership, that doesn’t mean you have to leave out fun activities. Our pets bring a lot of joy to our lives, so it’s time to return the favor. We have a few ideas for you if you’re drawing a blank:

  • Treats - Good anytime, anywhere, but surely your pets will enjoy their favorite treat during pet week. Even if they don’t know it’s pet week.

  • New Toys - This one is pretty easy. While online shopping is always a good idea, you can beat bringing your pet to the store and letting them pick out their own toy.

  • Car Ride - If your dog enjoys a nice car ride, grab the harness and strap them in. To sweeten the deal, end the car ride at their favorite park. Remember to bring lots of water as 100 degree days are officially upon us.

  • Outing - One of the great parts about having pets in Phoenix is the number of places we can take them with us. Check out AZ Central’s list of places to bring your pets.

  • Swimming - Pool season is finally here, and swimming is a great treat for the dogs to spend some time with the family.

National Pet Week is one of our favorite national holidays because it brings together pets, and pet owners for a week of fun activities, as well as serving as a promotion for responsible pet ownership.
